“Photorealistic image” is a term that refers to a representation of a certain materialities. Its quality defined by the image’ s optical character of the image' s resemblance to human-vision and/or photographic image. 

Photorealistic image also may refer to photorealism which is an art movement in painting. Photorealist painters, by using photographs, gathers visual tonal and texture values of the image, then he creates the painting which indistinguishable from a photograph.

Composite images that consists photographs and/or computer generated synthetic images  can be defined according to their above-mentioned visual qualities.
